Sam Billen releases new full-length, Places

Sam Billen, whose covers I’ve previously raved about, released an original full-length, Places, earlier this month. The Lawrence, Kansas singer/songwriter charms with emotionally compelling, electronic indie-pop. His ranging falsetto vocals may remind some of Halloween, Alaska, another Knox Road favorite. But Places is a stirring listen on its own, and deserves to be more widely-recognized. Stream… Continue reading Sam Billen releases new full-length, Places

Stars @ Webster Hall

Photo via Brooklyn Vegan by Amanda Hatfield I show up and the doorman is the nicest I’ve ever encountered. [MP3] The Royal Concept: “Naked & Dumb”

Catching up on a few weeks worth of starred music and I can’t help but feature Sweden’s The Royal Concept. “Naked & Dumb” can’t be any more necessary of a track for our mid-week drabbery; it gets me back up on my feet and ready to roll. The music world is flying, and… Continue reading New music from Terraplane Sun

They began recording their first material in the winter and are gradually releasing tracks this summer. We’ll keep you updated either here or via Twitter.… Continue reading Junior Prom

[MP3] Dan Leno: “The World I Heard You Wait”

We formed in 2010 and set out to write some great pop songs together. A mischievous smirk breaks out every time I listen to “The World I Heard You Wait,” recognizing full well the gem of a song I’ve stumbled upon while still not entirely grasping its impact. As soon as I’m about to get… Continue reading [MP3] Dan Leno: “The World I Heard You Wait”
