I had never heard of Los Angeles-based Andy Clockwise before popping open the ol’ Knox Road mailbag this morning. And now that I have heard of the group, I’m better for it. For serious.
See, lately I’ve been favoring songs that are all massive towers of instruments and hyper-emotional vocals, and they’re great, seriously, but it’s nice to have a change of pace. This song, “The Casanova (Remember Love)” is remarkably restrained. The oft-present strings are never pushed to the front of the mix, so the song avoids unnecessary melodrama. It’s a quietly emotional, mostly acoustic song, and it’s just wonderful.
reminds me of old kings of leon, in a good way.
