Didn’t get enough weird music today? Don’t worry, I got you covered! New York duo The Books released “Beautiful People,” a look at their first album in four years, The Way Out. The Books are known for their electronic/folk/weird music that almost always makes a splash with critics. Their latest track features all kinds of weird stuff like backwards vocals, bizarre lyrics and off-putting beats meshed with acoustic guitar and sweeping synth. I’m not going to sit here and try to tell you I understand what they’re doing here. That’s not how I work. But what I will say is that the end result is pretty pleasant and very entertaining. I’m hooked!

While waiting on the forthcoming release by The Books, you could also listen to Herfsttonen, a brand new release on esc.rec. ( http://www.escrec.com/category/escrec27 ) right now, which a.o. features a beautiful track by Paul de Jong (half of The Books).
